December 3, 2016... Thank You!

December 3, 2016 = One of the Greatest Days of my Life

The day starts by going out to a nice breakfast at the neighborhood sports bar with my adorable wife. Already the day is sweet.

After that, my dear wife and I went to a special event that happened at Seeds for Autism near downtown Phoenix. It's a great organization. They bring out the best from their students, and it showed. We got some treats and some of the students taught us how to make our own Christmas Tree Ornaments. We made jokes about burnt cookies and superheroes. And, we walked out with some pretty great purchases as well. Already the day is heartwarming.

Then I had a couple of hours to do some fun cartooning work! This day is already fulfilling.

Next, my adorable wife and I go to a birthday party, not just any birthday party... it's the second birthday of our oh-so-cute twin nieces! We got to see lots of family and three of our nieces! Sweet treats, toys, a bouncy house were also involved! Already the day is amazing.

Evening comes. I prepare my space-alien puppet and suit up as "Jolly the Elf" for Chandler's holiday light parade. I got to be in the parade with my buddies from ImprovMania. The folks that perform there are just amazing people and great friends. And, many of the ImprovManiacs brought their adorable families. Those little kids said or did something funny or cute like every half-minute. I sat in the trunk of the ImprovMania car with the puppet. Dave drove the car getting the enormous chants and cheers from thousands upon thousands of smiling attendees of the parade. Then as the car drove by the crowd got a second little piece of humor when they saw me with the puppet. Watching the faces, young and old, light up when they saw me was a true joy. The evening was a blast!

Night has fallen. I pick up my wonderful wife to do an improv show at the Torch Theatre. We see many of our best friends there. We put on a great show that got howls of laughter. This whole day and night was so, so great!

Not everyday can be this perfect. Yet, this one was. Thank you December 3, 2016 and thank you to everyone who was a part of it!

Now, here's a randumb cartoon that I drew about 4-5 years ago.

Chandler Comedy Festival

We've had the recent honor of being trusted with the design of the Chandler Comedy Festival's logo.

We wanted to make a big impact with this one, so we were heavy on the primary colors. Also, we wanted it to have the old look of vaudeville without being too heavy handed, so we essentially made the logo to be a very abstract image of a drum that has been busted through with the text. The image of the busted drum in one form or another has been a part of Ernie Kovacs TV shows, Bozo the Clown, The Muppets, and more comedic productions. And, the abstraction of a drum image gives us the shape of a circle, which plays well for logos.

We're proud to have this as a part of our portfolio and the Chandler Comedy Festival sounds like a blast!

Thanks, guys, and keep AZ weird!

GULP!

8 years ago I made an animated short that is still amusing to this day. It's all about fish!

It's called Gulp.

Check out the about link to see it.

The big orange fish is Filbert. He is pretty boss. I have temporary tattoos of him.

I heart him.

I hope you heart him too.

We made a motion comic!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7YGvQyAX_M

The link above goes to the Youtube video of a motion comic that we made right here at home.

I used paintings that I made for a solo art show about my Bloop Bloop characters, and I just decided to write/ improvise my way through a spoof nature show to serve as the text of the piece.

I took inspiration from a children's book by Michele and Richard Bledsoe. They took Michele's captivating paintings and wrapped Richard's creative text around them and created a wonderful work of art.

https://www.amazon.com/Secret-Kingdom-Michele-Bledsoe/dp/1478703628

The above link is to their book, should you be interested in owning it. I highly recommend The Secret Kingdom.

Expect more motion comics from us in the near future.

Thanks for reading, watching, and supporting!

Tommy

Making Video Bio

Here is the rough first footage I've worked on for a video bio of myself. I'm a weirdo. A total weirdo, but not really. In recent interactions with audience members and friends, I've felt a desire to "explain myself". My great friend, Bill Binder, helped me make this footage. I've since made two more scenes of the video, but they are not nearly as exciting as this one. Enjoy.

Check out the video through the youtube link above. Thanks! More to come in the near future.

Support Dr. Zombie's Movie Lab of Terror on IndieGoGo

Hello, World!

I'm looking to relaunch Dr. Zombie's Movie Lab of Terror in a big way by having a monster movie screening at the Super Saver Cinemas in North Phoenix.

It will be on the Saturday prior to Halloween October 29th. The venue is behind the 13th Floor Haunted House on Bell Rd. just west of I-17.

I want you to be a part of it. When it started at the place formerly known as The Trunk Space, we would riff these bad monster movies to shreds. There were all kinds of contests and prizes.

Well, it's happening again... join us for the hilarity and horror.

I'm trying to cover the overhead by having people purchase their admission ahead of time through IndieGoGo.

The link is above.

Thank you for your support. Bring a crazy costume, get ready to draw, and to shout out your best heckles. Together we make Phoenix fun!

Crab-Rat!

The great thing about working on Dr. Zombie projects is the weirdo art that I get to make for them and develop them further into other designs and projects.

One such piece of weirdo art is the Crab-Rat. I made him to be a small illustration to accompany one of Dr. Zombie's Horror-Scopes. I liked it well enough to make it a part of a design spoofing "Beware of Dog" signs. Check it out at Redbubble in the link below...

Always, be drawing. You never know when the next great idea will tail slap you in the face.

My Kindle Comic is Out! Dr. Zombie's Comic Lab of Terror!

https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Zombies-Comic-Lab-Terror-ebook/dp/B01G142DYY/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1464150621&sr=1-1

The above link is where we can buy ourselves my Kindle comic Dr. Zombie's Comic Lab of Terror!.

This is the first outing for Dr. Zombie in the comic book world. It is an anthology of short comedy-horror-sci-fi stories. What sets this apart from Eerie, Creepy, Tales from the Crypt, and other such titles is that it has a bigger emphasis on the comedy. It has ghosts, gremlins, flamingoes, a bowl of soup, "horror-scopes", and a dude in a pickle costume.

Happy Reading!

Thanks for checking it out. And, leave some reviews positive and/ or negative. Dr. Zombie loves all feedback, it helps him make more creatures.

Crazy Cartoons and Comedy

It's weird making a "vision" statement since I only have one functioning eye.

Don't forget about The Cross Guardian

I participated in a superhero creation contest that was being hosted by Webtoons this past Fall/ Winter. In that time, I pumped out a 12 page story, faster than I should have. But, the result is super fun... The Cross Guardian! He's the cross guard of super powers at Abruscato Public School. Also, just because it was part of a contest that it didn't win doesn't mean that your continued support of it is for nothing. If you read, click the hearts, share it with others, and give it more popularity, you will get more adventures from this mighty hero. The present story has him do battle with the Motorcycle Maniac. But, we have yet to see what happens when he meets up with Lady Jay Walker!

Click the link below to read "The Cross Guardian" on Webtoons!
